No fair weather pilots trained here!
Be trained to fly in all types of weather with your instructor. The one known fact
about aviation is that weather is unpredictable. Be a pilot that can “master the
skies” in all sorts of weather. Your career will thank you for it!
Spring brings warmer temperatures, melting snow, and rain
showers. Many of our pilots use this time to build their flight experience while
flying in the clouds, while other pilots enjoy flying in the sun. Spring also provides
opportunities for students to practice their flying skills in challenging windy
Summers in Minnesota are very pleasant. Temperatures range
from 70º to 90º allowing students to experience flight in a warm atmosphere in addition
to the challenges of navigating amongst the occasional thunderstorm.
Fall brings cooler temperatures, autumn colors, and longer
nights to the area. This allows students to experience diverse changing weather
patterns, beautiful scenery, and more night training opportunities.
Winters are typical of the northern plains. As the temperatures
drop, students gain the valuable experience of operating in true winter weather.
Snow and Ice are “ratings” that you can add to your all-weather pilot experience.
Great aircraft performance is the benefit of cold weather training. Only a handful
of schools like UMC have the unique opportunity to teach you cold weather operations.
